Blueberry Picking
Our 1,000 blueberry bushes can be enjoyed by Land Trust members only during blueberry season. Members will be mailed picking instructions.
The blueberries ripen throughout summer depending on variety. Berry production depends on natural weather conditions. End of August is usually the end of the blueberry picking season.
Dogs are prohibited in the orchard from April 15 – August 15 to protect ground nesting birds.
Reminders for Members when Picking:
Best time to pick is in the morning before noon, before it gets too hot!
Stay hydrated - bring water!
Remember the gate code, and be sure to secure the gate after entering and leaving

To access the Blueberry Patch: To get to the blueberry patch, follow the trails from either the Wells Hill Road or the Freeborn Road parking areas indicated on the Trout Brook Valley trail map. Follow the trails to the Orchard and then walk south to the blueberry patch indicated on the trail map. It is about a 30-minute easy hike to the blueberries from parking.
This is a lovely 1.53 mile hike and on a clear day you can see Long Island Sound. Click here for the Trout Brook Valley map. Enjoy!
Please note that the plants were sprayed with a fungicide pre-bud break thru post flowering on three occasions to control the mummy berry fungus which can be devastating to the fruit. When necessary we use approved food grade herbicides to control the weeds between the plants. Nothing is sprayed on the berries themselves. We limit our use of herbicides and only apply when necessary.
