Your Yard Can Make A Difference

Each Chickadee on our Green Corridor Partners Map represents a privately owned green space stewarded by a citizen like you. You can be a part of our movement too!

The Land Trust can’t protect all the land alone; that’s why your yard is important for saving plants and wildlife! Over 77% of land in Aspetuck Land Trust’s Green Corridor is privately owned so homeowners must be part of the solution. But don’t worry if you don’t live in Aspetuck Land Trust’s Fairfield County, Connecticut, Green Corridor. You still live on the planet Earth which is a big beautiful Green Corridor. You can make a difference by following the simple steps we lay out below, and make your own yard similar to the preserves you love to visit. Thanks for saving our planet one yard at a time. We can do this!

Even a small change in your yard can provide a stopover habitat for birds, pollinators, and facilitate wildlife movement across green spaces. There are many different ways to go about converting your lawn to the natural areas you love (and nature will love you for!).  Any step, however small, can make a big difference!
