GIFT OF MONEY

My first experience in the area was apple picking in the 1,009-acre Trout Brook Valley Preserve in Easton. That beautiful acreage was scheduled to become a private golf course, ringed by luxury homes before it was purchased by Aspetuck Land Trust in 1999.  How lucky we are now to enjoy this beautiful, large open space. Aspetuck Land Trust is not just about the preservation of open space, it’s about managing that space for all of us to enjoy. The trails are well marked and welcoming and regularly scheduled hikes led by experts enhance our understanding of the flora and fauna contained within. Our high-pressured world makes me reflect on the words of the great American writer John Muir who wrote that “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike. "

Aspetuck Land Trust has made that possible for so many of us here in Fairfield County Connecticut.
